Master Chorale of South Florida Announces
"A Season of Classical Contrasts"

The works that the Master Chorale of South Florida has chosen to perform in their 2007-2008 season demonstrate the breadth of repertoire available in classical music -- that there is something for everyone. Not only is each concert series very different from the other, but there are tremendous contrasts within each series. The November concert series concentrates on sacred texts and glorious melodies with settings ranging from Baroque to contemporary. The April concert series features highly secular 20th century music with thrilling rhythms and lusty lyrics based on a collection of poems and songs written in the early 13th Century.

In November, the Master Chorale will present Gloria! Gloria! Gloria!, a program of glorias by Vivaldi, Poulenc and Rutter. While the text for each piece is identical, the presentations are vastly different. The singers will be accompanied by the critically acclaimed Boca Raton Philharmonic and soprano Marvis Martin, a University of Miami graduate who has "graced the opera and concert stages of the world."

Concerts are Friday, November 16, 2007 at 8:00 pm at Second Presbyterian Church, 1400 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale; Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 8:00 pm, at the Kathryn Lindgren Theatre, Boca Raton Community High School, 1501 NW 15th Court, Boca Raton; and Sunday, November 18, 2007, at 4:00 pm, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 464 NE 16th St. at Bayshore Drive in Miami.

Tickets for any venue are $25 in advance ($30 at the door). Call 954-418-6232 or visit www.masterchoraleofsouthflorida.com.

In April, the Master Chorale of South Florida will perform Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, one of the world's most popular choral-orchestra masterpieces of the 20th century. This rhythmic, often wild piece, portions of which have been heard in hundreds of movies, is a thriller and audience favorite. Again, the chorale will be accompanied by the Boca Raton Symphonia with highly regarded soprano Suzan Hanson, internationally renowned tenor John Duykers and Grammy award winning baritone Donnie Ray Albert.

The first concert in this series will be Friday, April 11, 2008, at 8:00 pm at the Knight Concert Hall of Miami's Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets for this concert range in price from $15 to $55 and may be purchased through the Carnival Center Box Office.

The performance will be repeated on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 8:00 pm at Second Presbyterian Church, 1400 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, and on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 4:00 pm at the Kathryn Lindgren Theatre, Boca Raton Community High School, 1501 NW 15th Court, Boca Raton. Tickets for the Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton performances will go on sale in early November.

Funding for this organization is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council.
