The
Master Chorale of South Florida is seeking high school and college
students who love to sing classical music and would like to
perform with a semi-professional chorus under the direction
of a nationally renowned conductor. The Master Chorale has implemented
a scholarship program that will provide scholarships for young,
qualified singers to cover the annual membership fee, cost of
purchasing music and performance attire for students accepted
by audition.
"So
much funding for arts programs in the school systems has been
cut that we feel this will help young people who are interested
in classical music expand their horizons," said music director
Jo-Michael Scheibe, DMA. "It's an extraordinary opportunity,
and the students who have sung with us have enjoyed the experience
immensely."
Auditions
appointments for qualified singers to participate in the 2005-2006
"Season of Celebrations" will be scheduled from 12:00
noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at First Presbyterian
Church of Pompano Beach. An accompanist will be provided. Singers
should be prepared to sing a solo and take sight-reading and
tonal memory tests.
This
season's concert series will include Vaughn Williams' Dona
Nobis Pacem on November 11, 12, and 13, 2005, and Mozart's
Mass in C Minor on March 31, April 1 and 2, 2006. Performances
will take place in all three counties. Starting August 29, rehearsals
are every Monday night from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at ArtServe
in Fort Lauderdale.
